Today we’ve got one last One-Room Challenge related post to share with you- we’ve gone through all the incredible projects from the featured bloggers and guest participants, and we’ve spotted several trends this time around. We’re highlighting 5 trends (and a few bonuses) for today’s Five on Friday!
One trend that feels decidedly fall, but is strong and beautiful all year long are bold florals. Chris and Julia created a great contrast with their dark wallpaper in a light and bright room. Others that killed the romantic and powerful floral look? Decor Gold, A Storied Style, and House of Hipsters.
Animal prints are always in style, and this ORC was no exception. From a simple tossed pillow to a bold carpet, animal style was everywhere. Nicole went wild in her stairways with an amazing antelope runner, but we saw fun and wild looks from Jana Bek, The Curated House, and Design Indulgence, among many others.
Brass doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. We used it for our hardware, and we were not alone. Almost every one of the featured designers incorporated brass hardware/lighting in their spaces, and it was a knockout. Our favorite brass moment may be the bold light from Hunted Interior, but there were gorgeous details from The Curated House, The Makerista, and Design Maze as well.
Indigo accents were another favored detail this fall, in rooms of all styles. Marcus Design gave bold blue pops to a luxurious neutral bathroom and kept the glam factor high. Other great indigo moments came from Jana Bek, Hi Sugarplum, and Megan Pflug.
Deep black had such a moment in some truly incredible built-ins this time around. We’re enamored with the way Shannon Claire transformed her inherited bookcases and made them such a stunning feature. Equally as lovely? Black built-ins from Chris Loves Julia, The Curated House, and of course Hunted Interior.
A few other trends we couldn’t help but spot?
Layered Rugs // perfect for adding a little style on top of wall-to-wall carpeting, or incorporating an amazing rug that may be too small
Stripes // from little details, to textiles and wall coverings, bold and mild stripes popped up many times
Subway Tile // another trend that’s not going anywhere. There were some great takes on this one, though from designers who switched up the classic look
Round Mirrors // they’re just about perfect for anything, and everyone seems to realize it
We’ll be back to regularly scheduled programming soon- we’re finishing up the build for Project Moody (spoiler alert- they went with farmhouse style!) and we’ll be sharing that ASAP.
Have a great weekend, and Happy early Thanksgiving!
